JR Bourne is a Canadian actor who played Chris Argent, Allison Argent's father on MTV’s Teen Wolf.
Bourne had originally auditioned for the role of Dr. Deaton before being cast as Chris. He was a recurring actor for the first five seasons until he was upgraded to main cast in Season 6.
Bourne returned for the 2023 film, Teen Wolf: The Movie.
Early Life[]
His real name is David Bourne Jr. but he’s been called JR since childhood.
He began acting professionally at the age of eight doing TV commercials and television projects in Canada. He stopped performing for a while when he turned 15 expecting instead to pursue a business degree. His goal was to go into business with his father. After two years of study, he turned once again to acting.
He enrolled at the Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto and immediately began booking roles on Canadian daytime dramas, TV series and some feature films.
Career[]
Since the mid-90s, Bourne has worked steadily with small roles in feature films like Thir13en Ghosts and The Exorcism of Emily Rose as well as recurring and guest starring roles on popular television series such as the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation franchise, The Mentalist, Smallville, and Fringe.
Bourne is maybe best remembered for his two year stint as Martouf on the long running Stargate SG1 television series.
In 2011, Bourne did double duty as a hunter on two supernatural TV series; hunting werewolves as Chris Argent on MTV’s Teen Wolf and hunting witches as Isaac on The CW’s The Secret Circle.
In 2012 he appeared in several episodes of the ABC drama Revenge.
