So let me start by saying I am a huge Teen Wolf fan been down since day one. This however does not blind me from some of the huge holes in story that have already been pointed out on this very site.
I personally feel that the show has been rushed to the point where now scott is an alpha. I know some people also feel the same way about this giving thats its only season 3 and hes already accomplished the height of what it means to be a werewolf. Now i personally dont think it has anything to do with Scotts personality or character but his knowledge or lack thereof and honestly thats not his fault its just the way theyve been pushing things. I believe that since most shows like this dont last very long on MTV that they never really had the faith to think about what they would do if the show got picked up for another season and probably expected to get cancelled that first season. A show that has the potential to have as much depth and as big of a fan following as teen wolf does should either A never been restricted to just 12 episodes a season or B should have pushed for about a 56 to 63 min episode basis like game of thrones.
They placed a lot of constraints on themselves that i now kinda feel are biting them in the ass when it comes to what the fans really want. In this day of wikias and the ability to group together an form fandoms like as we are here fans have become a stickler and hungry for lore detailing and explaining their favorites characters and the myths involved in the show especially considering to what degree theyve changed the lore in this show. Now dont get me wrong I know a lot of the off disconnected feeling between season 2 and 3 is because colton left the show but still theyve been rushing things the whole time in retrospect and ill just go and say its because of the time constraints and the fact that each season is really only supposed to cover a few months. This has led to huge errors in the continuity and I'm just gonna point out some things about it that really bug me.
First off overall pacing of the show. The entire first season which should have been a full 22 episoded should have been about Scott becoming a werewolf his urges to kill and how difficult it truly made every aspect of his life. The mini arc of the first 12 episodes could still have been about how the boys thought derek was the big bad with the arc being about peter. There should have been scenes of Stiles delving into everything he could find out about wolves to help Scott out,more scenes of scott and allison so you could see why their love was spose to be so epic and also flashback episodes this series really needs more flashback episodes i know some people dont like them but there is something theyve done twice now and it makes me so mad. So its really never explained about the last time the argents were in town because the boys remembered derek from before the fire and he was hooking up with kate. We also know that the rest of the argents had been in town for a while as well but no one seems to remember allison. Also when people meet who have had a signicant role in your life dont you think youd react to the showing up again unlike the first time we see Derek and Kate interact. There should have been some kinda flashback episode or just moment that showed us him being seduced and her torching his place.
Second season once again a solid season still not enough detail in it to set up season 3. Season two should have been about scott coming to terms with what he was and trying to find a way to control himself. This should have been shown in detail. The reason i say this is because one of the biggest complaints I've read from people about Season 3 is that it was becoming to much of a superhero thing because there was no real drawback to them being wolves anymore. I just feel less people would have been upset if it had been very played up in the first season and they would have showed the wolves learning control in the second one. Also Allison becoming this bad ass hunter out of nowhere something else that should have been shown in this season cause that shit comes out of left field yea we know shes good with a bow but she went 1 on 1 with a few wolves and was kicking ass. The mini arc for the first half derek being a dick. Also after the first fight between scott and the new wolves any other meeting of the new wolves vs scott should have ended in scott losing. This would have done more to establish that being in a back makes the individual better. Derek alphaness also should have been up played more. The second arc could have been about the kenama also scott working with derek so at the end his supposed betrayal would have felt more deep. This is where we could have seen him teaching scott and the others control.
The third season was just to much to quick. A pack of alphas. While i like the idea still think it was to much. But its what they gave us so we will go with it. First off that scene between Derek and Ennis was just like the first scene between Derek and Kate. Here is a person who took everything from Derek but theres no recognition no anger just a whats up and I'm out. Also still no word about that random black who got killed or how she knew scott was gonna be the alpha. The first arc should have been all about the alpha wolves them kicking ass and it should have been shown when and how they killed their own packs, along with scott displaying alpha abilites at random times. Also even though i dont like love triangles more scenes between isaac and alison if your gonna go that route dont make it look so thrown together and less scene with scott and alison looking like their bout to get it on. Second half could have been about the dark druid and more about the history of druids and hunters. Though the history of hunters should have been added to the second season while alison was in training.
The biggest thing more Lore always more Lore cause now it just seems the writers can write anything and you cant really even call bullshit.
