Everyone has heard the exciting rumor that Eaddy Mays returning to the set . Although everything is just speculation at this point, that doesn't stop some fans from raving or making observations on why she may be coming back.
Fans are starting to think that the fact that characters are rising from the grave is ridiculous and that they can no longer trust that when someone dies they are actually dead.
While I agree that when characters die most should stay dead, it is always interesting on a supernatural show when doors are left open for characters to return. I'll talk about that later though.
I do believe that fans are overreacting a bit. Here's why:
It is Only Speculation[]
No one knows for sure why Eaddy Mays was on set. It does seem a bit suspicious that all those tweets about her being on set were posted and then deleted...
Some people are greatly annoyed at this new rumor, claiming that too many people had come back from the dead already.
But let’s look at this using common sense. Most of the time, when I see an actor’s name, whose character has died on the show, appear in the credits, I assume that they are going to be in a flashback.
We already know that in any T.V. show flashbacks can be the most important and interesting scenes. If she was returning to the show, that would be my first guess, Not resurrection. While I do agree that characters returning from the dead are sort of a no brainer in supernatural shows, it should not be a common theme.
I have also heard people suggest in comments that it could just be a hallucination. That seems like a pretty good guess to me. We have already seen some hallucinations appear in the episode Party Guessed . Not to mention all of Lydia's hallucinations.
There is always the prospect of her being a ghost that comes back around for a while. That's always an option for a supernatural show.
Though I don't know if they would head in that direction since there have been no ghosts on this show before, but I think it'd be an interesting choice.
Whether she is coming back in a flashback, a hallucination, ghost, something else, or if she is even coming back at all, is all speculation. So I think we should just take a deep breath and continue doing what we have been doing for what seems like an eternity. Wait.
Now, on to what everyone is mad about - people coming back from the dead too frequently.
Peter Hale's Great Return[]
Personally I thought the fact that Peter Hale being able to resurrect himself was just flawless. He is a great character that would be fun to develop.
For me, Peter coming back wasn't that annoying. Sure he did essentially cheat death, but it moved the story along and brought Lydia into the world of the supernatural, something I think we all wanted after two seasons of waiting for her to gain a more essential role in Scott's pack.
They also did a really good job at drawing the plot out throughout the whole season. It wasn't just done in one or two episodes.
I think we all enjoyed seeing Lydia going nuts this season.
So far, I think that Peter Hale is the only one I consider to have cheated death on the show.
Jackson Commits Suicide and Lives?[]
As we all saw in the episode Battlefield it seems that Jackson has killed himself.
I don't really consider that to be the case.
As we see in the episode Master Plan Jackson has started to form a sort of cocoon around himself, transforming from his beta kanima form to a better one with wings.
I'll be honest that I don't remember too clearly about season two since it was awhile ago.
But from what I could see, I don't really think Jackson killed himself. I think that he just sort of made it look like he did, when all he really was doing was triggering his transformation.
Melissa states that Jackson's heart has stopped, but what if that was a part of the transformation as well?
So I don't consider Jackson to have really died.
To make a humorous analogy, I think of it more as him going through the transformation of a caterpillar. Instead of coming out as a beautiful butterfly, he would come out as a scary ass lizard with wings.
I’m still sad that we didn't see that. Can we at least see the animated picture? Maybe?
Gerard's Slimy Black Problem[]
In the season finale of Teen Wolf we were all shocked to find out that Scott had a master Plan all along... No really we were ALL surprised that Scott had a plan. No one would've seen that coming.
I'm just kidding. I love Scott. I'm getting off topic though.
Scott had figured out that Gerard was sick. He then worked it out that Gerard wanted to become a werewolf to avoid death. So Scott and Dr. Deaton put mountain ash in Gerard's pills.
When Gerard got the bite his body began to revolt against him due to the mountain ash inside of him. He started seeping and ejecting black goo everywhere violently. This seemed to be the end for Gerard, so he did the one thing he could do.
He commanded the kanima to, "Kill them all!"
While everyone was distracted by the kanima, it seemed that Gerard took this time to escape. This is why I don't think Gerard really cheated death. He was never dead in the first place.
Not to mention, I think it was actually brilliant to keep him alive. As much as I hate him, he could possibly make the show interesting later on. Or at least provide Allison with more character development.
Hopefully some positive development since so far his influence has only caused her to become like Kate.
Conclusions[]
These are the only three main characters that have died or almost died and lived that I can think of.
The only person I consider to have cheated death his Peter Hale.
Death is not something that Teen Wolf takes lightly in my opinion. They have killed off a lot of people.
They have killed off almost everyone that was involved with the Hale house fire, everyone the kanima killed, and Victoria Argent.
Just keep in mind before you let yourself get taken over by unnecessary anger or annoyance that this is all speculation.
Also, keep in mind that Jeff Davis is amazing and wouldn't ruin his own show. I am sure that anything he does with the show I will be happy with because I have confidence in him.
He has yet to disappoint.
