I’ve divided Jeff’s Tumblr responses into two categories – Canon Questions and Behind the Scenes Questions
The BTS questions might be considered by some to be spoilers so avoid these if you don't wish to have knowledge of future events.
Canon Questions
Episode 306 will be called “Motel California” and will be the “darkest yet”.
Where does Isaac live and who has custody? According to Jeff, Isaac’s Orphan Status, where he lives and who has custody, will be resolved in the first episode of Season 3.
Details of Boyd’s family will be brought out during Season 3
The Teen Wolf Novel is “not necessarily” canon.
How does Melissa McCall afford such a big house on her nurse’s salary? She inherited the house from her mother.
Where does Derek’s money come from? Insurance payout after the fire.
The Werewolf Eye Thing has become “Very Important”.
Whereas this time last year Jeff said it was “like a Jedi lightsabre” with each character having a different color, the canon is about to change to place significance on each individual color. We won’t know what each signifies until Jeff says or the show airs.
- Q: “The color of a werewolf's eyes... important? (besides an Alpha being red, obviously.)”
- A: “Very important.”
The Peter Hale Character is based loosely on Iago from Shakespeare’s Othello.
The “Full Wolf/Full Alpha/Regular Wolf” thing will be addressed in a single Season 3 episode.
Behind the Scenes Questions
Danny's love life?
- Q - Will Danny get a boyfriend this season?
- A - I don’t know if we can classify it as that. But I will say the scene we are shooting with Keahu today has him shirtless. On a bed. With a guy.
Shirtless Stiles? That’s still up to Dylan.
How does Jeff keep secrets on the set?
- “I threaten to sue everyone. I’m not kidding. I threatened a fifteen year-old girl once.”
Allison will be redeemed.
- “We love Allison’s character. Partially because we were able to go to such extremes with her. She ended up being a bad guy last season. You were supposed to hate her at one point. Wait till you see what we have in store for her this season.”
Allison, Lydia and Stiles team up.
- “They grow much closer in the new season and have numerous episodes where they essentially ‘team up.’”
Scott is now all about self-improvement.
- “Scott has spent the last four months trying to improve himself. His goal in the new season is to become a better friend, a better son, a better werewolf, a better everything.”
Laura Hale will return in flashbacks. The flashback episode will offer many details of Hale family life before the fire.
The Flashback (Episode 8 of Season 3) will give us some inkling to Peter Hale’s motivations. Why is he so morally ambiguous? Is it all about the Hale Fire or is there more going on?
A younger actor will play Derek in the flashbacks.
- “Younger actor. And we’re possibly deciding who that will be this week.”
Allison will find out about what happened between Derek and her mother.
Derek will suffer in Season 3.
- “…Because many more horrible things are about to happen to him. We call this conflict! And we kinda’ love beating up on him.”
Scott’s Mom gets used to his werewolf thing and gets in on the action again in Season 3.
- “Not only used to it, but she’s going to help in unexpected ways.”
On Stiles love life –
- “Real normal love? That’s never an option on Teen Wolf.”
On Lydia's love life -
- "Love is in the air."
Perhaps they'll add a geeky female character?
- “Yes indeed. But possibly not until the second half of Season 3.”
We may get more information on Scott’s Dad late in Season 3.
- “Possibly in the second half of the third season. We’re still debating it.”
The Scott and Isaac friendship Jeff talked about at NYCC several months ago is now a thing.
- ”More than ever. Isaac may start to take Stiles’s place as Scott’s best friend which could cause some issues. I call it a bromance triangle.”
