Jeff Davis is a bastard.
He is a magnificently creative and wonderful bastard but a bastard nonetheless.
Did he have to mess with us so bad in the last episode?

I’m talking about the scene with the couple in the travel trailer. Just when did this kanima killing of the father-to-be take place?
It can’t be happening AFTER the events of Frenemy .
Can it?
I mean, Jackson must have escaped from the back of the Sheriff’s van and gone straight to the Sheriff’s Office.
I think the key to the whole timeline is the pants.
We saw him wearing the pants that Stiles put on him to cover up his junk both at the end of Frenemy and after the scene with the trailer trash couple.
- Which, BTW, do kids who actually live in trailers get offended when shows call them that?
So, Jackson’s timeline appears to go like this –

- Stiles dresses him and places him in van
- Jackson escapes van in pants Stiles gave him
- Jackson arrives at Sheriff’s office in pants Stiles gave him

- Deputy lends Jackson a coat to cover up perfect abs
- Jackson smirks at Scott and Stiles when they catch up to him

- Jackson smirks at Scott and Stiles after they get reamed by Sheriff and Lawyer
The pants are the constant.
So, assuming that it is Jackson who killed guy in the woods, we’re left with two options.
Jackson did it before going to the Sheriff in which case his timeline goes like this -
- Jackson escapes van
- Strips down
- Kills the guy
- Remembers where he left the pants
- Retrieves pants and dresses
- Arrives at Sheriff’s office to begin smirking
OR
Jackson did it at some other point in the Season in which case there is no pants issue at all.
Further confusing things is the video shown during the Scott, Stiles and Allison three-way phone convo.

I mean, did those scenes of Jackson take place or is that just what the trio thinks must have happened?
I called them flashbacks in the episode recap but they’re not technically flashbacks if they really didn’t happen and if they did really happen there would be no way for Scott, Stiles and Allison to know the details.
Bastard.
The fact that they chose to bookend this episode with the Trailer Couple’s story makes me think everything was happening in real time (except of course those bloody shots of Jackson which were flashbacks or imaginings or whatever) meaning that Jackson was at the Sheriff’s office when the couple was killed meaning… WHAT?
I’m sure all will be explained but wrapping my head around Restraint is currently pushing my limited mental skills to breaking point.
