Hooray LALA!
Congratulations are in order for Teen Wolf Music Supervisor Laura Webb on her recent nomination for Best Music Supervision – Television Drama in the fifth annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards.
Webb, known as @lalawebb to her thousands of twitter followers, is responsible for all the awesome soundtrack selections in each Teen Wolf episode. It’s not an easy job. She scours the world for incredible songs to enhance the emotion, elevate the messaging, and support the story within individual scenes. Webb handles the soundtrack while composer Dino Meneghin comes up with the score. They work together to create the musical landscape for each episode.
Webb is also Music Supervisor for the first season of MTV’s new show Eye Candy which debuts Monday, January 12 at 10pm.
At the GMSAs - Webb’s work on Teen Wolf (Seasons 3b and 4) will be up against some of the biggest shows on TV, including American Horror Story: Freak Show and The Blacklist. The Awards Ceremony is slated for January 21st at the Mack Sennett Studios in Hollywood.
Tapping Teen Wolf’s Talent
It seems whenever MTV has a show that needs a little help they pick up the phone and call Teen Wolf HQ. We got word this week that Teen Wolf Director Jennifer Lynch (Silverfinger, I. E. D., Perishable) is now an executive producer on the MTV Drama Finding Carter.
Lynch flew down to Atlanta during Carter’s first season to lens a couple of episodes but she returned to set this week in what appears to be a more permanent position suggesting she may not be behind the camera at all for Teen Wolf Season 5.
So far, MTV’s talent poachers snagged Teen Wolf Writer/Director Christian Taylor (Motel California, De-Void, Abomination, Riddled) to run things behind the scenes on Eye Candy. Taylor, in turn, grabbed up Teen Wolf Director and Executive Producer Russell Mulcahy to direct a few episodes on that New York based production.
We expect Mulcahy WILL be back in Northridge to direct Teen Wolf episode #501, Creatures of the Night, starting in February. It’s unclear if Taylor will ever come back to us.
Fact vs. Fiction
Here at Teen Wolf Wiki, we strive to report only factual information about the show. Part of that mission includes knocking down rumors perpetuated by less reputable sources and explaining, as best we can, what’s actually going on. To that end, we’ve collected all the information available about the upcoming season, separating the fact from the various fictions.
Facts about Season 5:[]
- Filming begins in February.
- There will be a single story over 20 episodes
- It will be Senior Year for Scott and Stiles
- Ep #501 is called Creatures of the Night
- The first episode is expected to debut sometime in June 2015
- Season 5 is slated to film over a period of 183 days - that’s 6 months or 26 weeks
- The budget for 20 episodes will be $46 million dollars
- The show expects to employ more than 5000 extras and stand-ins
- They expect to have 20 cast members (regular/recurring/guest star)
- 130 crew members - camera operators, production assistants, electrical workers, etc. - will be required to get the show from page to screen
That’s it. Those are all the verifiable facts about the season so far. It’s a short list, I know.
Fiction about Season 5[]
- “Holland Roden says someone is leaving the show!” – FALSE

One of the most pervasive rumors is that someone is leaving the show. The origin of this fallacy is an on-the-spot interview with Holland Roden during a fashion event back in September. HollywoodLife.com clickbaited the video with the title ‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5 Death Spoiler and several other, less-reputable, media outlets picked up the story.
Here’s what Holland actually said:
- Holland - “You’re going to have to tune in for Season 5 to see if we’re all coming back or not. That’s just the reality.”
- Reporter – “What’s going on with Darach now?”
- Holland – “Derek? Well, he walked off into the sunset.”
- Music Break
- Holland – “He could easily wake up the next morning and go get Starbucks in 501 or Lydia could have magically joined Jackson in London. We don’t know, you know. Dylan might be… Stiles might be… what would Stiles be doing… running the world probably.
- Video Edit
- Holland – Yeah it’s sort of a tossup for who is not coming back for Season 5 but somebody is not coming back I think that’s… I don’t know if that’s safe to say. Maybe we’re are, I don’t know.
A few important points about this interview –
It was shot during the Stacy Bendet Spring 2015 New York Fashion Week presentation at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan on September 8 - the same night the final episode of Teen Wolf Season 4 aired.
Holland did not, at this point, know who was under contract to come back for Season 5 – nobody knew because most contracts had yet to be negotiated.
She repeatedly says she doesn’t know about Season 5. She then illustrates the fact that she doesn’t know by spinning ridiculous scenarios about what her character and others might be doing in Season 5 - “go get starbucks” “joined Jackson in London” “ruling the world.” She is simply pointing out that anything could happen to the characters because, back on September 8, everything about Season 5 was yet to be determined.
- “Jeff says (INSERT NAME HERE) is coming back to the show!” – FALSE
This one is gaining the most traction because there is a kernel of truth in it.
During a Q&A session in France, Jeff said-
- “Well… One or two of those characters may be coming back next season.”
That’s it. “One or two… …may be coming back…”
He was answering a question about four characters in particular “Allison, Jackson, Aiden and Isaac” so speculation about other characters is baseless.
There has been no further confirmation – and at the time of the video, Jeff wasn’t in a position to know for sure if what “may be” actually “could be.”
That’s true of most of the published rumors about future events, the people being asked the questions are not in a position to know. Anything they say is usually chockfull-o-caveats and shouldn’t be taken as gospel by anyone.
