Banshee are not Supernatural
Lydia Martin is taking center stage as Teen Wolf Season 5 enters the final stretch. With her powers now “amplified” by Dr. Valack, Lydia’s screams can have deadly effect.

While we wait for her saga to play out on screen, Teen Wolf Executive Producer Jeff Davis clears up a lingering question about Lydia, Banshee and Mountain Ash.
Early in Season 5, Dr. Deaton told us that nothing supernatural can pass a Mountain Ash barrier. We saw Scott McCall and the Oni force their way through such barriers but Lydia, as a Banshee, never seemed to have a problem with the mystical roadblock.
Fans posit that Lydia and her ilk must be immune to such things but Davis says it goes further than that. “The writers’ debate about Lydia and mountain ash is just as spirited as the fans,” he tells Teen Wolf News, “but it’s also been our belief that Lydia is not supernatural. She has access to the supernatural.”
It seems, by design, this ability is hereditary, “Being able to access the supernatural is a gift passed onto her by her grandmother ,” Davis explains.

While he says Lydia was always a Banshee, it was getting attacked at the winter formal that brought it out, “Peter’s bite in Season One awakened that gift. Which is why he tells her ‘I’m the spark that lit your fire.’”
Holland Makes the Rounds
Holland Roden was all over the entertainment press this week as she made the rounds to promote Teen Wolf.
She took the opportunity to defend her TV mom saying that Actor Susan Walters would never leave Lydia in a filthy place like Eichen House.

The Butcher of Beacon Hills
It seems Dr. Valack was around Beacon Hills long before we met him in Teen Wolf Season 4. Dr. Deaton says he was in charge for a while at Eichen House and carried out experiments on the patients.

We’ve always known Valack was fond of trepanation but now we know why. He uses the hole-in-the-head process to enhance the abilities of Banshee as well as supernatural creatures like Werewolves and Wendigo.
The pictures are gruesome.

The treatment apparently works for a while at least. Then the patients are overwhelmed by the enhancement and die in agony.
Questions still remain about Teen Wolf’s version of Josef Mengele:
- How can he appear to be different people?
- How did the “eye in the hole in the head” thing work?
- How did he get hold of a Dread Doctor mask?
Movie Notes
Sluagh Movie[]
Teen Wolf did it first but now the legend of the Sluagh is coming to the big screen.

A fan-designed version of the Sluagh appeared briefly in A Novel Approach as a prisoner at Eichen House. Currently filming in Florida, The Sluagh movie is set to bring the popular Irish and Scottish folktale to life in a different way. According to this report from the Polk County Ledger, there’s a lot of loud screaming involved.

We only got to see him for a short time this season as chimera Noah on Teen Wolf, but actor Jordan Fisher was one of the breakout stars of this week’s Grease LIVE event on FOX. It turns out, in addition to drinking from blood bags and hacking up Sheriff’s, Fisher can sing.
